<\/div>[vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1646739400561{padding-right: 0em !important;padding-left: 0em !important;}”]Osona, associated with a conservative and rural image due to a historical stereotype, is nevertheless one of the most significant industrial heritage sites in Catalonia. A legacy in tems of buildings and machinery linked to the River Ter (together with the River Llobregat), became the main Catalan hydraulic source from the second half of the 19th century.<\/p>\n

This great historical legacy is explained in an interpretation centre, the\u00a0Industrial Museum of the River Ter in Manlleu<\/a>, to which the Wood Tornery Museum in Vall del Ges <\/a>must be added,which also contribute to the recovery, research and tourism diffusion of this valuable and disperse heritage. A stroll along the River Ter (GRPath GR 210)<\/a>leads to the discovery of canals, river factories and textile colonies, etc.<\/p>\n

Borgonya is known as “the English” due to the British origin of its founders. Its architecture bears a resemblance to the urban style of northern Europe. The tour to the colony includes a visit to a worker\u2019s home (except July and August), the factory bolier, the theater, the casino, the cradle house, the football field, the gardens, the canal and the dam. This great heritage estate allows us to travel to the industrial past of the colonies Ter.<\/div>\n

It\u2019s almost a 2km length course, and it’s full of history; the Industrial Canal Manlleu (1848). In addition to feeding 7 factories and 2 mills, Manlleu Channal was the meeting point of women from the working families, because that\u2019s where they did the laundry. The existence of the channel made Manlleu the industrial capital of Osona, and it still feeds the Francis turbine of the Industrial Museum of Ter, functioning through an automated Alternator. On our way we will stop at several points to observe different aspects of the river: its meanders, dams, small isles, it\u2019s flora and fauna.<\/div>\n

On this tour you will discover the history of an important industrial model village, finding out about the economic, political and social aspects that shaped its evolution, along with its relationship with the Catalan modernist artist Santiago Rusi\u00f1ol. You\u2019ll get to explore most of the facility: the gardens, Cau Faluga (the factory owner\u2019s residence), the spinning factory, the turbine (seeing it in action), the manager\u2019s apartment, the cooperative, the school, the canteen, the kitchen gardens and surviving elements of the long-gone church and workers\u2019 dwellings.<\/span><\/p>\n

The turner route can be comfortably experienced on foot. We can adapt the hike to our needs and connect to an audio guide that will expand on the information in the information panels. The route will take us through the creations of a profession that is now disappearing. Many different sculptures placed in different parts of the town can only be seen and experienced by means of walking. It also allows us to see historical and unique buildings and to get to know the other trades that existed in Sant Pere. These trades were all very important and were the base of the economic structure. The route will take us through places of exceptional beauty, all while enjoying a walk rich in all its meanings.<\/div>\n
